Sharp Objects
by Gillian Flynn
I read this partly out of boredom (it was available from the library) and the feeling maybe the plot would be more laid out in the book than the HBO show. I liked Gone Girl and I think I quit about halfway thru the other one about the sister in support groups whose brother was a killer or something. I didn't stick with it long enough to get the plot. This was a well-written book. It unfolded in a pleasing way but it didn't show more than the show. I thought we'd explore the killer's mind more, or get the killer's perspective or their input. The killer doesn't have a voice in the story. You see it through Camille's eyes and the murders are just flipped through quickly, as they are in the show. That said, I think I prefer the book to the show.
