While I enjoyed the first book in this series, I adored this book. The characters change in deeper ways and I find both the magic and the politics more interesting. I was struck by how similar Sharer magic is to Shamanism which made the book a very interesting read. I had not made the connection before but now that I have I find great metaphor and symbolism in the book that I only had glimpses of in the first. It makes me want to reread the first book to see what I missed. I would love to see more Dreamblood books in the future. Jemisin is fast becoming one of my sources of inspiration. I look forward to seeing what she does next!
