A poor attempt of combining Pride & Prejudice with a gothic novel. The first two-thirds were pointless, the last third was rushed. The scene under the temple was like something from an Indiana Jones movie. I nearly pulled a muscle in my eye from all the eye rolling I did.

Has the author actually read P&P? It felt like they’d taken the often used references and portions from the movie/TV adaptations giving us a superficial Lizzie and Darcy. I kept asking myself(?) the book(?) the great old ones(?) where is our obstinate headstrong girl? Where is their connection? Heck, where is the vampyre promised in the title?

I can’t even be bothered to rant about shoehorning in
Polidori
and the other gothic stereotypes.
Though not explicitly stated, Dracula made an appearance for all of 5 pages.

Overall, meh. I’ve certainly read better P&P retellings.
