The Madman's Daughter
by Megan Shepherd
I've never read the book the Island of Dr. Moreau, but I freaking loved the movie! Yet in this Island of Dr. Moreau inspired book, the atmosphere was so awesome, the creatures fantastical, and the writing lovely.
But Dear Juliet, what a fickle creature you are! Enter Montgomery, which any name that has more than three letters needs to be scrapped or given a nickname in a book. So we'll just call him Monty! Monty was cute and sweet and perfect and had interesting secrets. Then shut the front door, because here comes Edward... Edward Cullen? No... Edward Prince who needs to go away! The love declarations he made were too quick and ridiculous. Then Juliet was like, "Monty, I want Monty, but wait, because some of me wants Edward!" I HATE funky love triangles and fickle pickles!
Push that garbage aside and the book was great and fun with a crazy creep of a father. Some of us in life may have daddy issues, but Juliet really has some with an insane father who does some wild things on this island. This island is definitely no Blue Lagoon! And oh how I'm super interested to see what book 2 will bring!
