I’ve always been a fan of Bethany Joy Lenz, from her days on One Tree Hill to her heartwarming Hallmark movies. So, when I heard about her memoir, Dinner for Vampires, I was eager to dive in.

Lenz’s narration is captivating, and her voice is as soothing as ever. However, while the book delves into her experiences in a cult, I found myself wishing for more behind-the-scenes stories from One Tree Hill. Her journey through the cult is fascinating, and it’s intriguing to understand the complex dynamics that led her to trust this group over her own family.

Unfortunately, the book doesn’t delve as deeply into her recovery process and rebuilding her life after leaving the cult. I would have loved to hear more about how she reconnected with loved ones and found her way back to herself.

Despite these things, Dinner for Vampires is a worthwhile listen, especially in audiobook format. If you’re a fan of Lenz or are interested in stories of personal growth and overcoming adversity, I recommend giving it a try.
