The Brawl
by Devney Perry, Willa Nash
This was probably my favorite book of the series (closely followed by The Bluff). I wasn't sure how it would go, because we knew next to nothing about Larke and obviously even less about Ronan. I was so pleasantly surprised by this! I'll admit, when the plot started to pick up and we know what's going on, I was like, "What the heck is this plot?!" It seemed crazy at first, but as it unfolded, I fell into it and couldn't stop reading, wanting to find out what happens with Larke and Ronan and Wren and of course, Ember and her situation. I was glued, page after page and I seriously did not want it to end. I loved Larke so much. She's fierce and an amazing single mother. I loved that she was just focused on her daughter and teaching, and really wanted nothing to do with men (even Ronan). And Wren is just the cutest, most adorable little thing. She absolutely had everyone wrapped around her little fingers, including Ronan. Ronan was everything you'd want in a book boyfriend; he seems cold and grumpy, but he has such a huge, caring heart and would move mountains for those he cares about. Every time he called Larke "mama", I was swooing. I loved the back and forth banter between Ronan and Larke! It was so well written and made me laugh out loud so many times. As always with Devney Perry/Willa Nash, there's a twist and I was so shocked by what occurred. But that ending was so worth it and a sweet reward!
