Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel
4.0

Full Review from my blog Owl Eyes Reviews

Station Eleven has been blowing up in the book community recently. I got super excited when my sister gave me her copy to borrow telling me that I have to read this book as soon as possible. (There are a few people who when they give me books, I read it immediately. My sister is one of those people.) Within the day of her giving it to me, my nose was in the pages.

I kind of hit a wall with this book at the beginning because it was so different than I thought it would be. (Does that ever happen to you guys When you have a little trouble moving forwards with a book because it was so different than you thought it would be?) For some odd reason, I thought this was a historical fiction novel. I don’t know what put it in my mind. I was sitting there reading like “Wait, what do they have cell phones?” It took me quite a while to stop reading this book as a historical novel. Once I got past that, it was all smooth sailing.

This book really captivated me because it felt like a mystery. (Whoa, I know. I hate mystery. Give me a second to explain.) It was like a mystery in the sense that I couldn’t figure out what was going to happen next fast enough. It was one of those books that I liked a lot, but I wouldn’t be able to tell you what it wasn’t a love. This books is the perfect rainy day companion.
