The Dragon Reborn
by Robert Jordan
This is probably the strongest book in the Wheel of Time series to date, and I really enjoyed it. I was gripped from fairly early on and didn't want to put it down.
For a book called The Dragon Reborn, it didn't actually focus much on the Dragon, with other characters taking centre stage - largely to positive effect. Many characters feel far more developed than they had been in previous books, and while there are a couple of characters I don't particularly like, I still found their storylines compelling.
To my mind the biggest weakness of the book was sadly the ending. The book follows a structure we've seen in Wheel of Time before, of separating all the main characters to have separate adventures whilst bringing them together at the end, but sadly that ending felt rushed and underwhelming. A better ending could possibly have resulted in a five star rating, but as it is the book is instead a high four stars.
I really enjoyed this and may well proceed straight onto book 4.
