What an epic ride this was!! It might not be the most original plot of all time, but it has everything in it to make it a great fantasy novel. First of all, it picked from many sub-genre of fantasy to mixed it all together. We get some epic stuff, some battle scenes, some humor really strong and great characters (probably the best part), good universe/world building with mythology and tons of monsters, some magic, friendship, flying ships, dragon!, and so much more. A must read for the fantasy fans! I'm not the biggest fans of humor mixed with action or more serious story, but in this book the author mixed it all really well and the humor is funny! I also really like the concept of old mercenary forced to make a come back, that bring some original and different characters from what we usually see. My only minus was that some fight scenes became a bit confusing some time, lot of people, lot of action and I had to slow down the reading and even go back a bit sometimes to get my self on track, not something I often do, but no big deal! It's the first novel from this author and it's a great books whatsoever, and for a first one, just crazy amazing!! I will of course read the second, and wait for the third in this series and will follow this author closely!! A unique voice!
