3 out of 5 stars.
I really enjoyed the plot and the idea, but I found this book really difficult to get through. I was afraid that if I put it down for too long, I'd never pick it up again.
Seraphina is a high fantasy novel about a strange girl (at least initially I got the impression she was strange)living in the castle. The world she lives in is one where Dragons and humans co-exist... sort of. There's a divide in the kingdom of people that agree with the peace treaty with the dragons and some that don't.
Along with this plot point, consists one where Seraphina is extremely talented with music. I was happy that it's early on in the book that you find out why she is the why she is and why she seems so secretive. I was worried the author was going to drag it out too much, but it worked out great!
I'm not sure exactly why it took me so long to finish this. I think certain things dragged a bit, but I just had a lot of trouble getting through it. I've had this problem with high fantasy before (aka Harry Potter) so maybe the genre just isn't for me, and I don't have any dying urge inside me to check out the next book.
Still, I enjoyed reading it. So, 3 stars from me.
