Other People's Houses by Abbi Waxman
5.0

5 Stars: I LOVED this book. Loved it. It took me way longer to read it than I wanted, but library holds kept coming up that had a two week limit. But once I was in the other day, I was in. Like besides my 20 page goal of reading Dragonfly in Amber I was barreling through this book.

First of all, this book is FUNNY! Like laugh out loud funny. For those sensitive to language this has some language in it, but I am here for that. Secondly, Waxman is a wonderful writer. There are many quotes in this book that I feel all married should read. Below is my favorite:

"Does it bother you?"

"What?"

"That she let herself go?"

"I don't think she let herself go, Charlie. I think she just let herself be. ... I can't expect Frances to do all that she's done in the last twenty years, including simply aging twenty years, and not look different from her twenty-five year old I fell in love with. ... I don't get it when guys are like, 'Oh my wife isn't like she used to be.' Why should she be? Don't you expect to change as you get older?"

Perfect quote that all men and women should read about their spouses.

Besides all of the above, I really enjoyed the relationships in the book. Every character was involved in ways that did not seem forced or overdone. Waxman wrote a highly entertaining and enjoyable book here! I recommend for anyone who wants a fun read that is serious enough if that's what you need. Happy this was my Book of the Month pick!
