Despite being unclear on what exactly was going on, the narrative pulled me along. And when I finally figured it out, at about halfway through the book, I was HOOKED. I don't think most children would have the patience to read a full book and a half before understanding the world building, and tha'ts why I gave it only 4 stars and not 5. But I thoroughly enjoyed it and the cliffhanger yet satisfying ending is phenomenal. Will read #3.
