General description: We're put into Lucille during the time of monsters. There is constant protest, turmoil, and people of all ages fighting for their rights. Bitter wants no part in the danger, she's scared and wanted to remain in her school, as safe as she can be. But along the way, Bitter makes friends she cares about and when one of them gets hurt, Bitter uses her hardly explored power to accidentally release Vengence, a creature ready to hunt and remove monsters. Will Bitter stand up to Vengence to stop the violence, or will Vengence have their day and their way?
The good
- I loved the writing, enthralled in the story after the first few chapters.
- I enjoyed the backstory this gave to Pet, this was everything I wanted in the prequel.
- I loved each character Bitter met and felt real emotions during their troubles
- The twists? Didn't see them coming. Loved every second of them.
The lost of a half star: just a bit slow in the beginning.
Overall: Definitely read this if you liked Pet, or read it before you read Pet if you're interested, it feels like a true prequel!
