This is a long book, yet only a short amount of time goes by as far as story goes compared to earlier entries. A lot of stuff happens in a short amount of time. There were a lot of surprises, some were kinda obvious, others came out of nowhere and left me slack jawed. I liked the switching between characters, it didn't feel jarring, but if I were to complain about 1 thing is that I think Darrow was not in the book enough. When he has to share the story with 4 other "main" characters it makes sense, but still... that said my favorite other "main" character was Ephraim. I was most invested in his chapters.

So many people died in this book... yet there are still countless more! It's a fairly large cast of people to remember.
