4.5 Stars - This book was… wow. I UGLY cried so much. Colleen Hoover sure knows how to get deep and expose the ugliness that happens in this world while simultaneously building something beautiful. It Ends With Us tackles complex family dynamics, love, abuse, strength, friendship, working through past trauma, and what it takes to end the cycle. I really like how it follows Lily Bloom from her teenage years through the start of adulthood, drawing so many parallels. To me, one of the most beautiful relationships that we see change is Lily’s relationship with her mom. Something I appreciate is that It Ends With Us highlights how much love someone can hold for their abuser and how nothing is as easy as it looks to an outsider. Never judge someone else’s situation. All you can do is be there for them in whatever capacity they need. Thank you, Colleen Hoover, for writing this important novel. I recommend this book wholeheartedly but want to share the following TW: intimate partner violence, domestic violence, rape, abusive relationships.
