This one was definitely not what I was expecting. I had met John several times before in the other books, but he is so much spicier than I anticipated…and not just in the good way. He is a bit of an asshole, tbh, but it turns out that this is more of a defense mechanism after a life of trauma. He and Rosa have a very rocky start, and they are both keeping huge secrets from one another. I wasn’t sure how they were going to pull a HEA with all the lying and the war on their doorstep, but somehow they do!
