Kick at the Darkness by Keira Andrews
4.0

Book safety, content warnings, and tropes down below.

“I think we’re both due a breakdown or two. Or three or four.”

Considering I never shut up about not enjoying any series with the same MCs in all books, you’d think I was an idiot for starting this one. HOWever, my friends sent me so many amazing quotes and told me all about how freaking epic this trilogy is, and being the sl*t for action and suspense that I am, I couldn’t resist it. I finished listening to the first book really fast, and the only reason I’m not already halfway through the third book is because I have exams and I’m trying to be good. It’s not working.

“Most creatures can’t survive decapitation.” “Right. So swords would be good. Where do swords come from? Like, who sells swords in the twenty-first century? It’s probably all online. Does Amazon Prime still deliver in the apocalypse? […]”

I will preface this next thing by saying that books with a lot of spice is sometimes not the best for me when it comes to audiobooks, so it felt like a bit much sometimes. The spice is fabulous, and there’s no doubt that Keira Andrews can write top notch sex. I just kinda wish I was reading the ebook instead for this one. The action was amazing, and it legitimately feels like the end of the world. I mean, it’s a zombie apocalypse, so *duh*, but I could really feel the desperation and desolation in every page. Brilliant. Highly recommend!
