This is a beautiful book - beautifully written and beautifully illustrated. The book explores current topics such as climate change, asylum seeking and migration in an effective way, with a main character I instantly cared about. 

In all honesty without the illustrations it would have been a 3 star book for me personally. The writing is atmospheric and emotional (there were tears in my eyes at more than one point) but it's just not the type of story I am typically interested in reading. It was however brought up another level by the stunning imagery, including the use of transparent pages featuring elements of the pictures. The limited colour palette really adds to the aesthetic.
