The Lemon Sisters
by Jill Shalvis
Copy received from author for an honest review
This is the 3rd story in the Wildstone series, however each can be read as a standalone.
It was wonderful getting back to Wildstone, California - even if we are dragged back there, kicking and screaming by our leading lady Brooke.
This is Brooke's tale of going home - when you couldn't get out of there fast enough in the past. As the story progresses, it is easy to see why Brooke never came back, and my heart hurt for her as I was reading.
Some times it is just easier to stay away, right
However, I was also frustrated with her for her reasons of staying away, from distancing herself from her family and friends... and especially Garrett.
Oh boy, how good is Garrett (and where can I get me one?)
I loved Brooke fixing her relationship with her sister Mindy - though gees Mindy got on my nerves at times, I just wanted to shake some sense into her hehe. Her kids are all kinds of awesome and made me laugh out loud at times.
And as a reader, I was the biggest cheerleader for Brooke and Garrett rekindling their fractured relationship - just get it together guys!
I also liked that none of the characters were perfect. I know we read fiction to get away from the real world, but I like characters to have their flaws. Nothing worse to me than sickly sweet perfect characters that are so unbelievable, they become unlikable (this is probably just me though lol)
The Lemon Sisters is an enjoyable, yet at times heartbreaking tale, and I hope we get more of these characters in the future.
