cloudsofescape 's review for:
An Elf With No Name
by Mortimer Langford, Mortimer Langford
I was given the opportunity to read this for free from the author and to give an honest review!
Positives:
I liked Damien’s character, I thought he reminded me of deadpool or of starlord, he’s sarcastic and has a lot of funny commentary that made me laugh to myself a few times.
There’s also good banter between characters which I liked.
The romance slightly reminded me of fifth element, where leeloo who can’t speak English and is alien comes into Korbens life and they fall in love.
This very much reminded me of a comedy show you see on tv!
Negatives -
I felt the romance was rushed and kind of happened abruptly.
I also didn’t find there to be much connection with the other characters, and there was also a lot of characters being involved and I got lost a few times on who was who.
I didn’t feel like there was much world building either, I found it hard to imagine the surroundings Damien found himself in a lot of the times as there wasn’t much description.
I think the cover was confusing at first as it looks like it’s a horror but it really isn’t!
