This is such an important read! Sarah’s voice magnifies the importance of representation in our country and the power of change that comes when we collectively raise our voices. As a young queer person, it has been so disheartening to see the shift in how cruel some politicians and their policies have been towards the LGBTQ+ community in a post-Trump United States. Yet, reading this has filled me with hope in seeing how much progress was able to be driven forward in the years prior to Trump’s presidency. I have hope that one day, we will be able to achieve what activists have been striving for in terms of LGBTQ+ equality, especially for trans folks who are being attacked the most right now.
