I Want to Be a Wall, Vol. 2 by Honami Shirono

I was a little unsure about this series after reading the first volume, but this one was great & actually expanded on the things I was waffling over in the first one! Yuriko describes herself as ace, and in the first book I felt there was some conflation between aro/ace—but I wasn’t gonna nitpick because I can’t assume my perception of sexuality/identities is the same everywhere in the world obvi. However, i think this volume did a really good job of talking further about different sexualities, both distinguishing them and recognizing that they can overlap and converge in many ways. I think there’s less of a focus on labels here than there is on recognizing the many myriad ways people  experience/don’t experience sexual and/or romantic attraction. With that as a foundation I think the series is doing something very beautiful about showing a different type of relationship that I don’t usually get to see. (I will definitely be pointing to this manga the next time anyone is asking for examples of queer platonic relationships). I really enjoyed the conversations the two of them had as they navigated their marriage & it was so heartwarming to me. I also appreciated the discussion on BL, I thought that was interesting.
