sadly this is going to be an unpopular review because I just didn’t love it as much as I was expecting to. however, there was a lot of things I did love: the racial and social navigation of edie through just plainly trying to survive. the passages of edie’s incredible artistic abilities. the quite chaotic storyline. edie, akila and rebecca were all pretty cool characters. I liked the writing, albeit sometimes things were dragged to the point I could feel my eyes drifting to the next page. 

things I didn’t enjoy: the way I was only looking forward to the end/beginning of each chapter because it seemed to be the only place the action was happening. there was a lot of pages I just felt bored and worn out reading. I think most of the characters weren’t fully developed and I was left hoping for more from the book.
