A Discovery of Witches
by Deborah Harkness
Awesome! One of my new favorites. Sophisticated mystery, great love story, can't wait for the rest of this series.
Real Time Read 2017
I attempted and mostly succeeded in following the real time read of this novel, which takes place over the course of six weeks between Mabon and Halloween. I *mostly* succeeded and enjoyed sinking in and relishing this story which is one of my treasured favorites. I found this book after suffering through two years of horrific grad school required readings and it completely stole my heart. Written by a History professor and featuring a History professor as the main character, I couldn't ask for more. The writing is lush, poetic, and swoony and full of dense historical details. I cannot wait to see it adapted for screen!
