This book was honestly a little painful to finish. This was my first bully romance (I’ve since tried others I’ve enjoyed) so I went in a little wary but, I do love enemies-to-lovers so I thought I’d give it a chance. Unfortunately for this book, there was literally no reason for the MMCs to hate the FMCs other than they were ‘outsiders’ and had powerful heritage which btw, they weren’t even fully aware of. I don’t see any growth for them that would ever make sense or be satisfying. The behavior of most characters in this book was just kind of childish and confusing. I didn’t feel any connection, or sympathy for that matter, towards any of them except when the FMCs were nearly being killed by bullies again and even then I’d say it was more like pity.

Maybe I just wasn’t in the right mood for this book. I’d just seen so many people recommend it that I bumped it up my TBR. I really wanted to love this book, I love a super long series to binge but book 1 was too disappointing. I probably should’ve DNF’d but I was doing a book-a-day challenge and was too far in to quit.

On a positive note, I did find the world and various supernatural types to be interesting so I might give a try to Dark Fae and the prequel series. Plus the premise seems to be much more my usual style.
