The Word Exchange
by Alena Graedon
Word flu? Colorful language that no one understands and that makes you want to skip the whole chapter? Check. The ‘dystopian’ aspect of the novel makes sense with the epidemic of word flu, but in my opinion the book doesn’t pick up until Alice/Anana leaves New York, which is sadly near the end of the book. I found myself wanting to just stop reading it and pick up another book most of the time. It had hints of Black Mirror subjects with the technology of the Meme, even though Black Mirror became popular after the this book was published.
