this is a new-to-me author and this book gave sci-fi vibes more than romantasy to me. which i don't mind! it was very dystopian-esque.

but i did feel like the writing was all over the place. there were just too many characters and too many things happening in the beginning for me to fully enjoy myself/immerse myself in the book. i found the dialogue a little cringey at times.
