Mr. Mercedes by Stephen King
4.0

Bill is a retired cop living the rest of his days watching stuff like Jerry Springer. But one day he gets a letter from a mass murderer letting him know how pleased he is with running over and killing people with his Mercedes. Bill then goes on a wild chase to catch the son of a bitch before he acts again.

This is a pretty solid cat and mouse like story. Our main lead Bill is a good enough lead though it's his side cast, Jarome, and Holly, that really help create a much more interesting "good" guys side. The villain, Hartsfield, is a piece of shit villain, but a good one. Basically cruel, sick, racist, all the things you hate about people he is. Making him compelling when you get his point of view because you're never sure what he might do.

There's some dry spots here or there but this tightly crafted story tells a fun tale of good vs bad, that I had a good time. I'd probably rate it near a3.5 but I'll bump it up to a 4 for GR and on top of that some great narration once more on audible.
