The Stranded by Sarah Daniels
4.0

So, first of all this is a LONG book. That’s not too bad, although the fact that it doesn’t wrap it all up at the end could be an issue for some. What it makes me think of, as it is an alternate reality/dystopian type of story, is the Divergent series. And I loved that series, so that shows you that I think this could be a hit as well. While the comparison is to Snowpiercer, a movie/tv show I couldn’t get into even with the help of my celebrity crush Chris Evans being a part of it, this book was one that hooked me very quickly.

There were a lot of twists and turns and different layers to this world and this rebellion. Not to mention all the characters. I can’t believe at first I didn’t notice the character name in one chapter and how it related in the next chapter, until a couple chapters later! I loved the idea of this huge cruise ship just becoming its own world. My mind was busy trying to picture all the different rooms and areas based on what I’ve seen of real cruise ships or in movies/tv shows. And of course, it even make me think about the real Titanic as well as the movie of course.

We didn’t get a lot of info on the world that the United States, or I believe Federated States as it is now called, was like. Just the negative things that the characters saw from a distance. I’m very intrigued to read more in this world and see just what the world is like. I mentioned all the twists and turns and even when things seemed like they were going to go right in one way, yet what happened was a major disruption to the plan and sent things in crazy new directions.

It is a long book, but definitely worth keeping up with. There is definite violence, on the page violence, so that could be something that would keep some from reading. As I mentioned before though, if you read and enjoyed the Divergent series, I think you will enjoy this.

Now I see that the UK version was from Penguin and actually came out last July, and it is showing the next one comes out in July, but I’m guessing that might be the UK version, not the US one, but I’m putting it on my calendar for then just in case!
