I am always a bit skeptical reading a romance sequel that isn't a companion novel, but still following the same Characters and their relationship. I go into it expecting that the author will create unnecessary drama or put hurdles into the way of a good running relationship just to fill a whole other book.

Thankfully this wasn't the case here.

Sure it is a bit slower, not as snarky and filled with quick witted banter as the first one was.

But there is enough of it, that the characters are clearly still as they were in the first book.

I do like how this book showed Marriage from a lot of different sides.

That Marriage isn't always a simple thing, not always the perfect answer and not always the right thing or just the perfect thing for someone. How sometimes a marriage can feel like it slowed the relationship down and both parties are now unsure where they stand, having expected something to change or be different after their marriage. How people seem to simply expect that couples do get married at some point, even if maybe that isn't something everyone feels needed or something they want. Or on the flip side that Marriage is sometimes the best thing that happens to a couple and they couldn't be happier having taken that step.

But having said all that, i do understand how some people could see all those different aspects of the marriage that are shown in this book and don't feel as connected to it as they were with the first book. Because it does lack the quick wit, the fast paced banter and fun undertone the first book had, because this book is slightly matured in the way that it shows not the flirty start of a relationship that neither is sure about but what happens if you are sure in your relationship but at the same time are still learning.

I loved the relationship between Luc and his mother. I wish we would get more books with such a fantastic parent/child relationship.

I also really enjoyed how supportive the friends are in this. They do what is needed, be it help the other one out or kick the other into gear to make sure they get where they are need.

I really enjoyed how real the relationship between Oliver and Luc is, in the way that both have things the other dislikes, both try their best and both sometimes do the wrong thing, just as they both do the right thing. It was a nice balance showing that relationships even two years into it are not always smooth running. That people say the wrong thing, even if they don't mean to. It really showed that relationships are work for both but with the right person it is worth it.

What i didn't love was the section with the ex-boyfriend and how that was handled. Not because i don't think it wasn't realistic - i do think that it wasn't a bad representation of how some people need to have a way to clear up things to make sure they are behind them- but because i just found it completely unnecessary? I did not see way those moments were in the book, other then to add a bit of bulk to the book and add a slight bit of drama that wasn't necessary at all. It didn't add anything to the overall book, storyline or characters. It didn't add anything to the relationship between Luc and Oliver or how they behaved or saw each other. So why was that even in this book? What did it bring to this book?

No idea.

I also didn't love the small sections Luc's father were once again in this book. mostly because i already didn't see his characters need in the first book, but i really didn't see the need for him in this book at all. Again, he felt like he was only added to add a few pages and maybe give a slight dramatic tone to it all but didn't add anything to the overall story and could have just been edited out and nothing would have been missing at all.

Overall i really enjoyed this and think it is a nice sequel and a good book in itself as well.

Its -as already said- not as fun and quirky. But its entertaining and filled with fantastic characters and a well written book.
