Full Review from my blog Owl Eyes Reviews

This book took me forever to read. And, when I say forever I mean FOREVER. Part of me is just really glad that I finished this book because it’s taken me forever and another part of me is really glad to know how this story ends after all this time of not knowing. However, I am sad to say that this wasn’t my favorite John Green book. Actually, I can firmly state that this is my least favorite John Green book that I have read.
I’ve realized that I am not as attracted to John Green’s older books as I am to his newer books. I never really understood why this was until this book. In my opinion, John Green has grown a lot as a writer over the years and I think with that, the maturity of his characters has changed a lot. For example, in this book, the characters used the “r” word quite often and that bothered me. When people use the “r” word it shows me an ignorance or lack of understanding what’s right and what’s wrong. The characters came off as immature to me. But then, I run into the problem of whether it’s John Green’s writing that is changing or whether it’s me who is changing. The latter could definitely be the problem because I have been having a hard time connecting to young adult recently.
THe only thing that I really liked about this book were the interactions between Colin and Lindsey. Other than those interactions, the book wasn’t so great for me.
