It wasn't a story about female empowerment, just Circe's life- and I want to make it very clear that that's not a bad thing. Stories about women can have nuance, they don't all need to be tilted in a woman's favor. This story was very much about oppression, both of political parties and of women, of how people are pitted against each other and, in that, of the ways women are pitted against each other and against men, and through all of that, it is about how Circe lives. It is disquieting and she is quiet until she is loud.
