Moriarty is the second officially authorized Holmes book by Horowitz. I can imagine it’s a rather intimidating honour, but once again he’s done a stellar job - Horowitz has captured Doyle’s voice perfectly.

Although this is a Holmes novel, this time he doesn’t actually appear in it. As you can probably guess, this one is about his nemesis instead. So just a heads up that this story is a bit different than expected. But in a great way!

I’ve always considered the mark of a good mystery to be its ability to surprise me. And holy smokes, does this story ever deliver. I’m afraid to give any detail; I’ll just say that I read the end of the book on a plane, and had to stop myself from letting out some choice curses. It blew me away!

If you like Sherlock Holmes or darker mysteries, then definitely go pick this one up.
