klmnz 's review for:
Parable of the Sower
by Octavia E. Butler
Read for Life's Library.
A harrowing, disturbing, but deeply realistic portrayal of a dystopian future under unchecked climate change, written well before we even realised how bad things had gotten. Told through the eyes of an intelligent and highly pragmatic young woman surviving her world by interpreting a new religion, this humanises the story and made me wonder what I would do in their shoes. Does not flinch away from a very harsh reality.
