A great first book in a new children's series about the adventures of the Sinister-Winterbottom kids. I really like the diversity of the three siblings. Wil isn't like the typical older siblings in other YA/middle grade books you read. This book is in the POV of the younger twins so the reader sees what they see. You think at first that Wil is typical older sibling in the fact that she acts like she doesn't care and eyes staying glued to her beloved phone Rodrigo. But it isn't until the plot starts thickening that suddenly they realize their older sister was helping them solve the mystery all along. Kiersten White also breaks the stigma of twins by creating the very unique Theo and Alexander. Whenever one thinks of twins they think of matching clothes and acting exactly the same. That is not the case with them. Theo and Alexander as so different that you forget that they actually are twins.

While the plot was good, it was a little drawn out, but that it is due to the fact this is the first book in a series and there is a lot of set up. In one 230 page book we are introduced to the characters and said characters going through a sense of betrayal from their parents after being suddenly dropped off at their mysterious aunts house while also introducing the initial plot itself. So it may seem a little slow but there are also a total of five books in this series so its got to start somewhere.
