I didn't realize the first time I read "The Goblets of Fire," that 13 yr old Harry, Ron, & Hermonie drink beer, butterbeer at The Leaky Cauldron. At first I didn't think much about it until I read the part when Winky is upset because she is no longer working for her master. She is drunk after drinking 10 butterbears! It's implied that it is perfectly fine for British 13 yr olds to have a spirit now and again. A big contrast to young teenage Americans. Wonder if my students will pick this up?
