GOOD LORD. THIS BOOK WAS SO GOOD.
Though at times it felt a little like it was dragging, it was a quick read. The culture and social structure of the Ottoman empire were very interesting to me (possibly just my inner anthropologist).

I loved Lada. She's badass and intelligent and fun to read about.

I loved everything about this book. I loved the history and the characters and the diversity. I loved that the main character was brutal and "ugly" and had no care for the expectations placed around her. I loved the writing and the world building. It was so good. I am so upset that I will have to wait more than a year for the sequel.
