You can see all my reviews here: Books Are The New Black

This was a book that I fell in love with the cover. I saw the cover and the title and requested it. I didn’t think I would get approved but I’m so glad I did!

If you enjoy any historical fiction then I think you will love this. The fun part is that there’s some mystery, fantasy, and romance aspects as well. It’s got a lot going on and it’s not my typical read but it was so enjoyable.

We have these Victorian ladies who are drinking tea and being proper and stealing things right and left. Lady pirates, scoundrels, and flying houses make it all the more interesting. On top of that, we have a very swoon-worthy romance. India Holton really knew how to draw me in with her witty prose and action-filled plot!

Let’s talk about the romance, which I enjoyed immensely. Not only can you feel the tension coming off the pages (e-reader) but it’s true enemies-to-lovers. One is hired to kill the other but they are aware of it. Throughout the book, there are several times they discuss how they would do so. It is such fun banter and adds so much more to the romance.

There are times that this story is over the top and a bit wordy but I quickly fell into a rhythm with the author’s writing style. It did have a slow start for me and it took a bit for me to get into it. As I said, I had to get used to her writing style and go with it.

Overall, I had a fun time and if you are looking for something out there and a little crazy, this would be a good option for you. I will be reading more from this series!
