Next Of Kin by Hannah Bonam-Young

Let me just say that this book touched me so deeply. It's such an emotional story with so many hardships, but it has such amazing moments and a beautiful ending. There are some heavy topics in this book, like drug use, adoption, trauma, etc. but I think the author did so well when it came to these subjects and I couldn't believe it was her debut novel. Chloe is such a wonderful human being and I fell in love with her from the start. It takes such a strong person to endure what she has, and the way she steps up for her sister is just so heartwarming and brave. Warren, while seemingly uncaring and broody, actually has a heart of gold but just has struggled a lot in his life and didn't feel like he could trust anyone. Together, they defy the odds and help each other get through the situation of caring for their siblings. I loved the deaf representation in this book, as well as a child (infant in this case) with medical conditions. The premise was really cool, and something totally unexpected but it really worked and it was fantastic "meet cute". I really encourage everyone to check out this book!
