This book was a huge miss for me.

I didn't like any of the characters, the humor made me cringe, and the storyline seemed forced and bits and pieces seemed to come out of nowhere.

I absolutely could not stand all the random violent hatred for the book sentences that seemed to appear at least once per chapter- "...if you read it enough times, you will probably end up committing a homicide." "If after reading this book you come to my home and brutally murder me, I truly do not blame you." "That last paragraph is so stupid that I couldn't even bring myself to delete it." "By the way, for every mind numbing thing that you have read in this book..." "Thank Christ this book is over." "Also, I can probably just write whatever on this page, because there's no way you made it all the way to the end, because this book is a disgrace to the English language."

I couldn't stand all the "...we were going to kill ourselves." "...wanted to slit our wrists." We get it, you're an angsty teen. Stop.

And don't even get me started on the blame game the main character was constantly playing. Everything about his life was his mom's fault...his teachers fault...his classmates fault...Earl's fault...Madison's fault...etc. etc.

Page 262 of 295- "Maybe you should think about switching to a different book." ...... -.-

The ONE part that made me crack a quick half-smile was:
"It's so nasty. Son, it's so nasty."-Earl
"Then why are you finishing it?"-Greg
"Takin a bullet."-Earl

But hey, at least I was patient and waited to get this from my local library rather than buying it at Target when I saw it on sale...I would have been extremely upset if I spent any money on it.

I would not recommend this to anyone.
