So I'm a cis, straight, white woman - but I try to be an ally. I think most of the time, my heart is in it more than the rest of me, meaning I *want* to help, but don't always know how. This book is the first of hopefully a few books that will educate me so I can be a better ally, a true ally, someone who doesn't just claim to be an ally but actually does something.

This book is definitely written for both gay & straights, and was a very basic, general book -- it is a great starting point if you need help, have questions, and need answers. James is pretty blunt about some topics in the book, but he's writing to educate, not shock, and did a fantastic job.
