bookbriefs 's review for:
Winter Omens
by Trisha Leigh
This is such a great, solid series. Whispers in Autumn and Winter Omens are just good writing- plain and simple. They have everything that makes up great books. Realistic, relatable characters, great writing, a kick ass plot, and just this something extra that draws you in and keeps you happily reading. I read these books back to back so I know it is going to be tough for me to wait for the next one to be released. (sigh...)
Althea if at all possible, is even more alone at the start of this book than the start of the last one. I felt so bad for her. But at least she found Wolf. I love that she has a dog companion with her, because I am such a huge dog person. And Wolf is such a great dog, I smiled every scene Wolf was in.
Lucas wasn't in this book too much and that made me sad. I knew he would be scarce the second the book started out in winter, but he does make an appearance later on. This is really Thea's story and she is such a great staring character. I got to see her really be a true survivor in Winter Omens, and I am so ready to cheer her on in the next book. Thea is pretty darn awesome.
We did get to know Pax as a new character though, and I have to say I loved that he used the seasons as nicknames. I thought that was adorable. I was all set to hate Pax just on principal but he did find a way to worm into my heart. I have no idea what I am going to do about these guys in the next book but it is something that I don't even want to think about because I like them each a lot.
Winter Omens is an awesome follow up to the first book in the Last Year series, Whispers in Autumn. This series is addictive, and I just can't get enough from this terrifying world. I just NEED to know what is going to happen. Do yourself a favor, and read this series. Please.
