OMG this one is hard. I loved it, it was a wild ride. It was everything I didn't know I needed, and I will absolutely be reading the follow up books because I refuse to leave these characters.
A bitch needed a flow chart to keep track of who I hated, forgave, and then hated again.
Despite EVERYONE getting an HEA this was Messy AF. I wanted to love the MC. He's not a bad man. I GREATLY enjoyed his skills in the bedroom and every spice scene in this book. A bitch lost al moral values when he ate that puss.
But his lack of accountability pissed me tf off. When he gaslight his wife (yes, she's a crazy bitch but that doesn't excuse his words and actions) I wanted to scream.
Both women were a bit too emotional for me. But both were EMOTIONAL GANGSTERS. Layton more than Ciena.
Farrah... I have met women like Farrah, I have had friends with Farrah. Miserable Possessive bitches who want you to be unhappy with them. Last month I read the book Cherish Farrah by Bethany C Marrow. Highly Recommend. Farrah was a sociopath and I felt like the young Farrah in THAT book had a lot in common with the Farrah in this book. Chapter 35 dropped a bombshell and I was like OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I see why she's a terrible, horrible, no-good person.
I felt like myself and other women who have engaged in toxic behavior will be able to relate to Layton. She struggles with a declining mental health and self-hatred which causes her to lash out on the one person she knows won't leave her. Knowing that doing this will only push them away but she literally can't stop herself. As someone who has been there, I can attest it's an outer body experience and requires therapy and self-love.
Highly recommend this book, especially the audio because that Haitian accent was EVERYTHING.
