Absolutely necessary read for LGBTQ activism. I loved Sarah’s vulnerability and honesty, but also that she was so willing to say that our requirement that trans people be so vulnerable in their activism is dehumanizing. Beautifully tells her own tragic story while weaving in stats on trans issues. On the one hand this book is incredibly hopeful, but I also couldn’t stop thinking about how her accomplishments in politics was only possible as a trans person because she has been involved in local politics starting in childhood. Are the same possibilities available to every trans person? Hard to know or see a path forward.
