Rabbit Cake
by Annie Hartnett
Quite a quirky, dark, yet somehow endearing story of Elvis, from age 10-12, in the aftermath of her mother’s death. Elvis and her sister and father cope with their grief in different ways, which aren’t always healthy. This story is a bit dark for a middle grade book (MG, YA?) but I think it was easier for me to take in audio format. The narration was fantastic, and had a David Sedaris vibe, which I think made this book more of a dramedy for me.
