I wanted to like this one more than I did. I wish it had gone a bit more into detail about the busing/integration of Portland and why people homeschooled as a result. I don't think that's well-known, and I would have appreciated seeing it further explored. It is an author memoir, so perhaps she didn't go much beyond that. Otherwise, I wasn't really sure I got how little she fit in other than that the other kids seemed to ignore her. I think it was just a bit too subtle for me.
