Agnostic: Poems by Christopher Buckley
hopeful reflective

The secondhand copy of this book I purchased had a postcard in it (super exciting), but I only realized after getting home that it's from the author to someone named Charles. Hope you're doing well wherever you are, Charles. I'll take good care of your book. Anyway, I couldn't have said it better than the author himself: "Here's the latest in my ongoing small potatoes arm wrestling w/ faith/hope/doubt--the usual suspects."

It took me a little to get into the rhythm of the book, and I'm still not convinced by the formatting of some of it, but I loved the little world it gave me, of an old man who loves his cat and California beaches and misses his friends and thinks about the universe. There were themes/images that kept coming back and really unified everything.

Also the author photo is him with three of his friends, and I have a new dream: when I'm old, I want a photo of me on the back of my work to be incomplete without the loved ones I will make art with.
