The Wrath & the Dawn

This was just really really bad and it really read like early 2010s YA fantasy. The romance was disgusting (the scenes at the beginning felt very non- consensual to me if you know what I’m talking about) the characters were so unlikable. Shazi felt like a wannabe Katniss Everdeen who doesn’t actually act and instead tells everyone she can kill them…inside her head of course. (Which sounds a lot like Celaena Sardothien from TOG…)
The love triangle was so stupid and unneeded since it was basically casted from the synopsis who our MC is gonna end up with. Speaking of love triangles, the side characters in here had 0 goals or personality other than to “save” Shazi. Obsessed much? The men in here really prove the word simp is real.
The world building is awful; making me look back at a dictionary for words from another language isn’t world building and it felt like I was reading about a world with a lot of sand. After two times a word in italics popped up I said “screw it” and stopped looking back at the dictionary. I didn’t miss much.
Writing was also pretty bad with over descriptions of characters that are mentioned once / add 0 to the story and the flowery metaphors made me wanna gag. Overall, wouldn’t recommend, I couldn’t take another second of this.
