Shatter Me

My Rating : 4.5🌟
"We might all die today. The facts are so obvious. But we know we need to take the chance just the same. Because moving forward is the only way to survive"
The first line in the first page "You can't touch me", i was sold and i finished this book in a single sitting. The book had an interesting combination of complicated feelings/sibling bond/and Love. At first when i saw few sentences stricken out, i thought it was a misprint. But then i quickly realized it was to differentiate Juliette's thinking vs what she actually says out loud! And it was such an interesting twist to the regular writing.
This story revolves around our main character Juliette, who has been shunned from/by everyone because of her unique power. Everyone she touches dies. The author has done an excellent job of depicting her fears, how her hope has been completely shattered and how she gains her voice back with the help of Adam. I really loved how Adam was portrayed and how his behavior is being unfolded as we travel through the story. The bond between Adam and Juliette is really explained well and i ship them both!
There was a particular line which really made me feel happy "I am the bird. And you are going to help me fly away". After going through so much in her life, she finds her happy place and her childhood (only) friend Adam turns out to be her savior and develops into being so much more. The way she fights her power to make sure she chooses the right path, and even when Warner(our villain), tries to break her she holds onto the good side of her and that really made me feel proud of her.
I really loved how the characters were developed, and really liked the way Warner showed dominance and i feel like more about him will be unfolded in the upcoming books.
Through the course of the story at some places, the words were repeated thrice or more, which was a little letdown for me personally. It broke the flow at few places and i had to reread the sentence again to gain the flow again. And in few places i felt that the scenes between Adam and Juliette were a little too forced and unnecessary but it still made sense when taken as whole. I would have enjoyed the setting more without those scenes.
Then the Log of Warner about his first meeting with Juliette was really an added bonus. I especially loved the line "This is not the mind of a vicious human being. This is the mind of a broken girl". I could understand his point of view. And i low-key ship Warner and Juliette in the upcoming books!! And i cannot dive into the next book to continue the journey with all of the characters!
