The way this book handles race and female characters is atrocious. The women are constantly sexualized and have their worth put on how pretty and skinny they are, and the non white characters are constantly simmered down to just their race. I lost count of how many times the author said "the African American" or "the Hispanic" for already established characters instead of just using their names.
